GOLD
I’m standing in the middle of Prada with my mom in NoHo in New York City. The time was 2:45PM
As we were stepping out the door, my mom began to tell the clerk that I was in town to perform. Without skipping a beat, the clerk decided to contribute his two cents on this very occasion.
“Maybe one day when you’re famous,” he said. “You can finally buy your mother something.”
I smiled kindly. We left with nothing.
I’m standing in the middle of the Tank Theatre lobby in the Garment District in New York City. The time was 10:45PM.
As I was about to head out of the theatre, a lady began to talk to me about my performance. Without skipping a beat, she decided to share her day with me on this very occasion.
“I wasn’t going to come to the show, but I’m glad I did,” she said. “Everything you’ve said tonight captured what I was feeling this week. Ed, I don’t know if you know how much impact you’ve had on me and the people who come to your shows. It really makes a difference.”
I smiled kindly, and we left with hearts full of gold.
